One-time projects and recurring services

Not every engagement has an end date. Vivotics distinguishes the two kinds of work you sell so your reporting can tell them apart.

The two types

One-time project: a defined piece of work with a beginning and an end. A website build, a brand refresh, a data migration. It finishes and you invoice for it.

Recurring service: an ongoing retainer that renews. A monthly marketing contract, an SEO retainer, staff augmentation. It has no natural finish line, and it typically bills every month for as long as the client stays.

Setting the type

Choose Project Type when you create a project, or change it later from Edit project. New projects default to one-time, so you only need to think about it when you are setting up a retainer.

Where you see it

Recurring projects carry a Recurring badge in the projects list, so you can tell your retainer book from your delivery book at a glance.

Why it matters

Retainers and one-time work behave differently in the business. Retainers are predictable revenue you want to protect and renew; one-time projects are pipeline you have to keep refilling. Tagging them separately is what lets you count each one honestly, and it is the foundation for automatically raising the monthly invoice on a retainer.
